Fulltime Worker Finally

Well last week was really busy. I now have a fulltime job after having had 3 casual jobs. Started yesterday - so far so good. I feel confident about the job just need to learn what forms are needed when etc. I have been reading heaps and am getting the bigger picture. In a couple of months time I should have most things figured out and hopefully downpat by then.

On the positive side the kids rode their bikes to school instead of getting a lift so their fitness levels will increase. Had to first fix flat tyres etc to get them ready thus I ran out of time to hop on and make a post on Sunday. On the down side it looks like we have to find somewhere else to live as the landlord wants to sell in a couple of months. It feels like we only just moved in and still haven't finished unpacking and now we have to pack up to move again! I am NOT looking forward to that.
Glad most of my plants are in pots! Although my butterfly bush got planted out in the back yard. I will just have to buy another one and put that in a pot. Damn that will mean I will just have to go back to the nursery! I wonder what plants they will have this time??? And while I am there I will just have to check out their pots! My hanging baskets are growing well - have some flowers already.
Changes are afoot. Am gaining momentum. Feeling back on track. I am like the little engine who thinks he can and little by little makes it up and over the mountain. Slowly but surely I am getting there. I will find a way. We need to get back on our feet before we can fly.

Cheers

P.S. My daughter made that picture from Paint. She has labelled it "hot'n'cold".

Night before Easter

The night before Easter and all through the house - not a creature was stirring not even a bunny. All the Easter eggs (and rabbits) are wrapped, the baskets are out, hot cross buns haven't made an appearance this year as some people in this house don't like sultanas! (and I couldn't find the ones without!!!). The kids are eagerly awaiting to eat all the chocolate they can. They think that I only have homemade chocolates so they'll be surprised tomorrow - I can't wait to see their faces.

The hardest part this year was finding white eggs. It seems that brown chickens are better layers so there are not many white eggs for sale in the supermarkets. It is times like these when I wish I still had my chickens (We moved states so had to leave them behind). Anyway I "moved" some eggs around and managed to get really light brown ones before proceeding to the checkout. I will boil them tonight so that they are ready tomorrow. Family tradition is to decorate the eggs and then try breaking them with each other, after which you eat them for breakfast or brunch (if we sleep in).

As usual there is a mass exodus in town. Camping seems to be a big thing at Easter time. We don't go because we like our comfy beds and padded seats not to mention flushing toilets and hot showers. Yeah Yeah we are wuuses but someone has to be - can't all be tuffies!

It is has been a week and none of my plants have died - Yay!

I can't believe how much chillies cost in the supermarkets - $12.98 per kg! I have about 20 - 30 bushes growing at the moment. I could easily make $12.98!!!! (haha) I will be making more jewellery the next 2 days as they are actually selling. I am very impressed that people actually like something that I have made. I have gone out of my comfort zone to engage in producing jewellery to sell. I usually hate people looking at my artwork of any kind. I will take some photos and post them in next week's blog.

GOOD HEALTH AND GOOD TIDINGS WISHES FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES TODAY.
Cheers

Sleepy Sunday

Another week has gone by and it is lazy Sunday again. I have been able to set up my hanging baskets finally in the carport. It looks much better now. The next stage will be to set up the black tubing so I just have to set the tap timer on and it will do it automatically. That is a while away as I will have to buy all the attachments first. My herbs are growing beautifully. I have basil - greek and sweet, shallots, parsley, oregano, lemon grass, and chillies. I still want to buy a few more such as chives, mint, rosemary, wormwood and thyme. I have also been growing seedlings that sprouted by themselves from a jasmine smelling white flowered/red berry producing shrub - not sure what it is but now I have 9 more of them! Anyway my intention is to make a hedge out of them in about a year's time.
I also have a blue butterfly bush (Clerodendrum Ugandense). I think it is amazing as its flowers actually resemble butterflies! Check this out...

I love visiting garden centres. I reckon when I die I don't want flowers I want people to buy actual complete plants - not just the flowers. I should make a list that way I know that they will survive even with neglect. I should also work out where I would like them planted too obviously!
I would love to go to Hunter Valley Gardens (NSW) and visit the 12 different gardens over 25 hectares. It won a tourism award - 2 yrs running now. It looks really good. Check out their website: http://www.hvg.com.au/home.asp
The Melbourne Garden Show looked good on TV the other night but they are only temporary displays but Hunter Valley Gardens is permanent with various activities held there throughout the year. Oh sorry, I was off daydreaming about that day - no week or maybe two! Oh hum...

I would also love to go on one of those garden tours around Europe just checking out gardens. That would be the best - although I would probably check out the art galleries and museums too whilst I was there. You know the artist who painted his garden - Monet - he first created his garden with the help of his kids so that he could later paint it. I think that is clever. I would love to visit his garden too. Gardening can be just as creative as paint on canvas.
Lastly, I found this great website that has terrific photos. There are many photo websites out there with very interesting views of something that you would normally see every day but not necessarily from that perspective. Try and find the photo of the car door handles. It looks great. Go to this website: http://www.digitalimagecafe.com/
Let me know what you think. That is it for this week.
Cheers T :-)
